I've just been informed I'm going to a "party" on Saturday night. It had been mentioned before, but I clearly stated I wouldn't be going. There will be quite a few other people there, people I haven't seen for 10 years. And kids. I will be expected to socially interact with them. Apparently, I am also driving, as it's too far for a taxi.
I have my arm placed on the bed slats. Can someone pop round and do an 'Escape to Victory' style foot stamp please?

The world was my oyster tonight - wife in Denmark with work, one daughter on a geography field trip, the other on a sleepover at a friend's house. I could have done anything... visited a sophisticated late night bar and caught the eye of a vampish lady, gone to the Monday night 'poetry slam' at the student bar down the road - even just sloped to the local, drank half a gallon & done the crossword. Yet all I managed was to have an early bath, and watch Return of the Jedi in my wife's dressing gown. A perfect wee snapshot of my utter lack of ambition
