Never been to the Balti Lodge? Or Streetly Balti.? This is a truthnuke I was not ready for. I haven’t. Is the Balti Lodge a true balti house? I’ve been to restaurants where you could get get a ‘vegetable balti’ or a ‘lamb balti’, but they have also been on the menu with a whole range of other dishes. I might have also been to a restaurant that had ‘balti’ in the name … My understanding was that a balti house was a very small venue, bring your own drinks, with a very small menu and naan bread used as tablecloth. Also that ‘balti’ meant ‘bucket’, so maybe the food wasn’t as delicious as at, say, a premium tandoori house with carpets and sitar music. |

I went to make a toasted cheese sandwich earlier but the new induction hob didn’t recognise the frying pan. I tried a saucepan instead but the cheese fell out when I tried to flip it and fused / burned to the bottom. The sandwich had a strange soft quality to it as well … The physics was wrong.

Can anyone recommend a make / model of bookshelf speakers (to wire up to an amplifier)? Ideally with a natural wood finish. Ideally looking as if they’ve come from the pad of a very stylish Danish man in 1971?

I made a couple of toasted ham&cheese rolls yesterday evening. The only 'ham' I had was Billy Bear. I'll never forget the look on Bones' face as I chucked him onto a seething sweaty mass of hot cheese. I felt we bonded in that moment, and then I chucked him under the grill.
It was a beautiful thing.
