Hash brown fries look healthy* I had mushroom tortellini with tomato sauce out a jar. The pesto was off and had to be chucked. There was no chicken and rice soup left as the child has hollow legs.
*They don't but probably amazing.

I had a massive pizza to myself earlier. I then promptly fell asleep on the sofa while my partner put the boy to bed.
I awoke in an utter daze, and was unable to process reality for almost an hour.

I have just finished reading Brett Anderson's autobiography. Pretty good. In terms of calibration, I'd say it's up there with Tony Cascarino's. I have a signed copy. I went to the chat and signing at Birmingham Town Hall. It's pretty good. Both the book and the Town Hall, which is externally a copy if the Temple if Castor and Pollux in Rome.

Thought the last quarter tailed off a bit into showbiz anecdotes, as if he couldn't decide how to finish it, but a lot better than most books in the genre. I am still hooked on the blue hour.

Brett said that everything after they signed a record deal was pretty much in the public eye, so he didn't have much to add. So that made a decent place to stop. He used Cider With Rosie (which I've never read) as a style guide as he liked the tone of it and wanted to get a similar feel. I have no idea if he succeeded, but you could tell he'd put some effort in to the style, not just the story.

Yes it was a good idea to stop just as the showbiz kicked in, and I thought the writing was good. You also get a good sense of how bands go from being shit to being good. On the downside, he's only a few years older than me and it's unsettling to read the time of your own childhood narrated as a historical period.

Rolling I agree. There was an article in The Blizzard (Jonathan Wilson's football magazine) about the Brum derbies in 1983-84. It treated them as some monstrous event* from another age rather than as happening a couple of years ago. As I was at both games I found this approach hurtful.
They are on YouTube. Howard Gayle's fence climbing goal celebration is still beautiful.
*The first game was monstrous. Played on a flooded pitch. Some proper brutality during and after the game. The days when 80 arrests was par for a game rather than a season.

Brett Anderson? Who the fuck is interested in Oakland Athletic's $1.5m signing for the MBA?
This is not America folks. *
* It's really not. I checked.

Mind you, I saw George Best playing for Hibs, so on further reflection it probably was another age. That was shortly before I was published in 2000AD. I'm saving the anecdote about my letter to Your Sinclair for my own autobiography.

Where does 'Boasting about getting a nerdy angst ridden letter, that is published in a comic for freaks' place in the list of worst possible things to boast about?
I'm thinking 18th.

Just finished watching the Direct.
Yes to all of that. My money was already on the "2D" Zelda being a remake of Link's Awakening. I'm so pleased with that, although I feel I've played that game so many times I could do it blindfolded.
FF IX now and FF VII soon. No mention of Luigi's Mansion 3, but that's quite alright. It would be a good game for Halloween. Nothing about Animal Crossing and fortunately no Pikmin 3 port, which was rumoured but would be quite ridiculous.
But they were constantly showing new games, this is very good. Daemon X Machina demo with opportunity for feedback, I like their style.
I need to ruminate on this authentic gibberish.
*ruminates*
