I stayed in last night. We ate a mezze board of food and watched telly. At midnight I peeked outside at some people letting off fireworks in a communal space. I was disappointed in myself at not spilling out with a glass of Champagne and toasting everyone’s health.
There was a party nearby but a few doors down.
I think, I think, I think … party music should be turned down by 11 on week nights and Sundays. Or by 1, at the latest, on Fridays, Saturdays and Christmas Eve, or by 3 on New Years Eve.
I guess everyone has their rules. Everyone has their limits. Maybe one party a week is ok within the acceptable parameters? It’s hard to say.

No parties, no friends, no leaving the house except for essential business, oh wait that was last year. Still things are not looking bad yet?
Now parent has covid, been six days since we saw them and they picked it up Christmas so tense few days for new baby and mum.

I suppose if I had children I might feel differently. But I imagine I’d pass the system onto them. After the alphabet and the times table. The party acceptability calculus.

Just convinced a child to no longer be afraid of spiders, and to allow one to stay in her room and give it a name, to save me the effort of getting off the sofa and putting it out. Result. She's named it Tiddles, which I think is a nice name, and which I did not influence in the slightest. What's the most you ever lost on a coin toss?

For some odd reason I always seem to see lazybones avatar as a sort of meat teddy bear wearing a flattened US police officers cap.

What's your strategy Chumbles? Just convinced a child to no longer be afraid of spiders, and to allow one to stay in her room and give it a name, to save me the effort of getting off the sofa and putting it out. Result. She's named it Tiddles, which I think is a nice name, and which I did not influence in the slightest. Ask Sheep2 - he's almost certainly using a similar strategy ... Or if you step into my larder and start this relaxing 2hr per tick slo-mo game I'll tell you ingame 🤣 np.ironhelmet.com/game/4646630689865728

Morning pioneers of the 22nd century!
What happened to gong last night? Drunk vomitting cats? An erupting horse?
Last night was moribund. A touch of French champagne from France and a takeaway. Up late because the neighbours were making noise.

Now parent has covid, been six days since we saw them and they picked it up Christmas so tense few days for new baby and mum. Best of luck fella, you'll be glad to know that SadJav thinks that you're a pioneering family... "Writing in the Daily Mail, Mr Javid said the UK must look to "live alongside" coronavirus in 2022." So we can see that the government are, as usual, taking no responsibility for their actions... if it goes wrong "We've chucked money at it, so it's the fault of the (insert name here)" and if it works "Our policies are bearing fruit, and we're immensely proud of of our universe-leading policies." Like the ongoing destruction of our pig farming industry * *This situation is getting even worse; this morning's Farming Today

"I have had grown men in tears on the phone just at the thought to having to contemplate killing healthy animals." I'm definitely not defending the government, and at the risk* of sounding like a sneery vegetarian, perhaps meat farming wasn't the best choice for them. *Certainty. Thanks for the offer Chumbles, but I'll refrain from being sucked back into NP.

Uh oh, here comes the London-based liberal-elite… You made your pact with London rules when you chose to live there: noise, 24/7.

Hope that it all turns out okay and will one day make a great family anecdote. We've all been hit by that apocryphal Chinese curse in that we are living in interesting times.

Is anyone else using Wordle to keep a spreadsheet of who uses light theme (the usual wrong 'uns) and who uses dark theme (as is right and proper)? I hadn't even noticed that one can switch to a dark theme but I'd rather people used the light one because it shows up better on my Chatterbox Silent Hill theme which is all anyone should care about.

I was going to post a full rerun of last night, but by the time I got to 6pm I’d even depressed myself, so deleted it.
Suffice to say it involved a lost puppy, which turned up safe and hiding behind a sofa (after searching the road), a flattened steel giraffe, which may need a bit of my agricultural welding skills to put right, and a PM who went waaaaaay overboard on the Baileys.
Drunkbuddy had staggered home by 10, and pm had shut herself in the bedroom with the dogs and passed out, leaving me to see in the new year with the assorted denizens of this place.
God bless us, every one.
