The first link worked because I used it, unless I signed something different. They also want me to tweet the link to my followers, which as far as I can make out are porn-bots, so I'm not sure how helpful that would be. |

Studio Ghibli films coming to Netflix makes me a very happy Tent Hen www.theguardian.com/film/2020/feb/01/studio-ghibli-netflix-streaming-back-catalogue-guide-anime-filmsI dragged the Preferred Mammal, who is no fan of animation film whatsoever, to the cinema to see the subtitled version of The Tale of the Princess Kaguya when it was released in the West. He loved it. At home we watched Laputa: Castle in the Sky, Spirited Away and Mr Tent Rooster's favourite, Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind. When I was small I was thoroughly in love with Isao Takahata's Heidi TV adaptation which was shown on German television (the head of the ZDF's children's programme at the time worked closely together with the Nippon Animation studio) and I was delighted to find out much later in life that he and Miyazaki had founded their own studio and were making all these fabulous films. Here's Joe Hisaishi conducting a live performance (with an insanely large choir) of Nausicaä's soundtrack. (Beware of spoilers.) Edit: Dammit, the spoiler is in the thumbnail. Sorry. |
