19 minutes in. Once again they've made the mistake of having incidental one-off characters -- in this case the young camping woman in particular -- with a hundred times more charisma and dramatic credibility than the four main characters.
The conversation between the Doctor and Yaz about whether she went back for the thingy was dreadful. Either it was too dangerous or it was an acceptable risk. I can't understand why the Doctor would change her mind on it. The script is dreadful, and the acting is not elevating it.

Why is the Doctor reliant on a local lab to do research and computery stuff? It doesn't fit with the advanced capabilities the TARDIS and the sonic have.
The 11y-o got up for a drink of water. Annoying. Ruined the immersion for me.
Right, ok, the ex-copper and the astronaut are married. Even so, I don't understand why the ex-copper was so certain it was the right bilding. and how did Yaz have skeleton keys for the lock? Comically bad conversation about the ex-copper's emotions, after he's just denied "doing emotions".

Shenguin Don't try to think it through. Just accept it's total bollocks and move on. P.S. If in doubt, whatever the plot, it's all to do with us humans fucking up the planet... With a Chibnall lecture thrown in for good measure.

It's a shame, as Bradley Walsh is really good on The Chase.

"The alien pathogen attacked the plastic. The plastic metastasised as if it was living." Fucking meaningless. I mean, whoever wrote that really didn't bother knowing what the words they were writing meant.
For any fans of Mr Browning, here's a bad passage from the original text of Pippa's Passing: Then, owls and bats, cowls and twats, Monks and nuns, in a cloister’s moods, Adjourn to the oak-stump pantry!

Did the scientist just reveal herself to be on the bad side, and then give important information to the Doctor before disappearing? Yeah, ok, it's meta and self-knowing, I guess, if I'm too kind. Which I'm not.

That's not what gyres of plastic pollution look like.

Shenguin It's complete and utter bollocks. Badly conceived, terribly written and woodenly delivered by actors who know they should be ringing their agents and demanding a review of their contracts for exit clauses.

Oooh! wait a mo! I think there might be a progressive environmental message hidden deep within this episode. If only I could somehow decode it . . .

Destry I can't stop watching it. I used to love it. Now I hate myself. It's not the first time a relationship has done that to me, just the first time it's been a relationship with a TV programme. How come the bodies explode, but there's no shrapnel or dust given off?
It's a good job Adam volunteered to test the only medicine that might possibly save his life, against every other character's advice, otherwise they wouldn't have known the cure for the whole planet worked.

Again, I'm not sure there was a single line by any of the companions that wasn't interchangeable between them. Featureless cardboard.

I know for a fact you watched it through the Sylvester McCoy and Bonnie Langford years. I have good reason to doubt it is as bad as it was then*. So you are nowhere near rock bottom. There is a way down yet
*On the reasonable grounds nothing could be as bad as the late 80s Dr Who. I don't think I need to test to see whether the current series is worse. It isn't.
